Tribute by Vladimir Laguerre

I met Patrick @ Dartmouth. We were both members of the class of 1990. I studied computer science and engineering. Patrick studied electrical engineering. We shared many classes together and were roommates for several terms. Patrick and I were friends, lab partners, and classmates. On many occasions we spent late nights working through problem sets… he was almost always faster than me. We built a speedometer for an engineering class together. The name of the speedometer (Accu-Speed) became the calling card for the names of Patrick’s companies. He introduced me to Ghanaian food; from the rice to the spicy peanut sauce. He stayed at my home. He invited me to his home and I promised to come (I didn’t have a chance to keep the promise) to his home in Ghana. He loved life. I remember laughing, eating, partying, working, and studying with him. I remember playing soccer, kicking the ball into my own goal, and while others laughed at me, he consoled me. I remember his gray Toyota. He helped me (and many others) move with that old car. He drove it 1,000s of miles throughout the US. I miss my friend. I look forward to being engulfed by his hug, hearing his laughter, and seeing his smile when it is my time to go to heaven.
